Meeting of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (EUROSAI WGEA)

During the spring meeting of the EUROSAI Working Group on Environmental Auditing (WGEA), which took place in Warsaw in May 2023, the members of the EUROSAI WGEA Steering Committee agreed that the autumn meeting of the WGEA will take place in Prague, during the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Supreme Audit Office of the Czech Republic (SAO). The theme of the autumn meeting was sustainable energy, which is also closely related to the topics of the international seminar held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the SAO entitled Greening SAIs.
Due to the fact that the events celebrating the 30th anniversary of the SAO and the above-mentioned international seminar were taking place in parallel, the working group meeting was held in the conference rooms of the Mama Shelter Prague hotel for capacity reasons. The meeting was attended by a total of 78 persons, including 68 foreign guests representing 26 Supreme Audit Institutions.
As far as the programme of the event is concerned, a part of the first day was devoted to presentations on topics such as the EU and national progress to climate and energy targets, sustainable energy in the Czech Republic or the assessment of government’s actions to achieve desired reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. In the afternoon, four workshops were held on (1) green fiscal policy tools, (2) energy efficiency, (3) renewable energy and (4) energy security. On the second day, the workshop leaders summarised the content of the previous day's discussions and presented the results of their work. The following day (27 September 2023) the meeting of the EUROSAI WGEA Steering Committee was held.
