Azerbaijan auditors visited the SAO and attended a seminar on audit of state budget revenues

On 21 May, colleagues from the Azerbaijan Chamber of Accounts paid a visit to the Supreme Audit Office (SAO). The Director of the State Budget Revenues Audit Department Javid Bayramov and the Director of Analysis Department Sanay Pashayev participated in an expert seminar on the audit of state budget revenues which was prepared for them by representatives of the SAO.
The guests got acquainted with the goals defined by the SAO in the audit of state budget revenues – to contribute to the implementation of state budget revenues and to increase the efficiency of activities related to the collection of budget revenues. In addition, the SAO representatives acquainted the visitors with the structure of an audit focusing on this topic and presented practical examples of audit findings from national and international audits and subsequent corrective actions taken in the Czech Republic as well as in the international environment.
Both participants were also informed about the vision and plans of the SAO associated with its upcoming presidency within EUROSAI, which brings together 50 SAIs from Europe and some other countries including Azerbaijan. Another topic, for example, was the SAO´s project called Benchmarking Information Exchange Project (BIEP) which makes it possible for individual audit institutions to compare data from different countries and to include reliable international comparisons from various areas into their audits. Last but not least, a part of the seminar was a presentation on the forthcoming EUROSAI Congress, which will be held by the SAO as the presiding country of this organization in Prague in 2020.
