Press release – 14. 9. 2018
On 13 September, the SAO President Miloslav Kala and representatives of the SAO welcomed colleagues of the Bulgarian National Audit Office headed by President Tzvetan Tzvetkov.
The SAO and Bulgarian representatives discussed possibilities of cooperation on the Benchmarking Information Exchange Project (BIEP). Within this project, the SAO develops tools and methodologies for audit institutions to reliably share and compare relevant data from different countries that could be used, for example, in their audits.
The Bulgarian delegation informed the SAO representatives on the topic of financial responsibility in the public sector. President Tzvetkov introduced his institution as an independent guarantor of good governance.
The agenda of the meeting also touched upon the upcoming SAO presidency of the EUROSAI – an organization which brings together 50 audit institutions from Europe and other countries. The SAO will chair the EUROSAI between 2020 and 2023 and will hold the 11th Congress in Prague in 2020.
The subject of open data as well as the Hackaton, which the SAO prepared for September 14 and 15, captured the attention of the Bulgarian SAI representatives.
President Tzvetan Tzvetkov praised the work of the SAO in the international field and highlighted the SAO as a leader of audit institutions in Central Europe.
