Heads of the Czech and the Slovak SAO talked not only about co-operative audits in Prague

Press release — 24 September 2019

On 17 September, the President of the Slovak Supreme Audit Office visited the Czech Supreme Audit Office. He and his Czech counterpart, Mr Miloslav Kala, discussed, e.g., plans for co-operative audits or readiness of the Czech SAO for the EUROSAI Presidency. They both participated in the conference “Air quality and circular economy”.

The bilateral meeting of top representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions was devoted to possibilities of future co-operative audits; in the past, the two authorities focused on, e.g., the audit of the excise duty administration. Apart from that, they also addressed the results of the recent audits carried out by the Czech SAO, such as the audit of the administration and the purchase of a toll system.

The President of the Slovak SAO also enquired about the preparation of the XI Congress of EUROSAI in Prague next year. This organization, which brings together 50 Supreme Audit Institutions in Europe and the surrounding countries, will be chaired by the Czech SAO for the following three years.

The representatives of both Supreme Audit Institutions also attended a conference called “Air quality and circular economy”, which was organised by the Czech SAO. This conference looked into current environmental problems of the Czech Republic, such as air quality or waste management, as well as the future of the circular economy.
