Radovan Suchánek and Josef Kott were elected to the SAO Board
PRESS RELEASE ON THE ELECTION OF NEW MEMBERS TO THE SAO BOARD – 27 May 2026
The new Members of the SAO Board will be attorney Radovan Suchánek (aged 53) and Member of Parliament Josef Kott (aged 55). Members of Parliament elected them in a secret ballot on Wednesday, 27 May 2026, with 102 MPs voting for Radovan Suchánek and 131 MPs voting for Josef Kott out of the 166 MPs present. Both will take the oath of office before the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies in the coming days.
“I welcome the fact that the Members of Parliament have approved my proposals. I am convinced that the former Constitutional Court Judge and author of numerous publications on the SAO and the Constitution, as well as the MP with many years of experience, particularly on the Committee on Budgetary Control of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, will be a great asset to the work of the SAO. I am very much looking forward to working with them,” commented SAO President Miloslav Kala on the election of Radovan Suchánek and Josef Kott.
Radovan Suchánek is a graduate of the Faculty of Law at Charles University in Prague. During his doctoral studies, he specialised in constitutional law, criminal law, criminology, and criminalistics. From 2004 to 2006, he served as Deputy Minister for Legislation, Supervision, and International Affairs at the Ministry of Health. From 2013 to 2023, he was a judge on the Constitutional Court. In addition to his legal practice, he has taught at the Faculty of Law of Charles University and the Faculty of Legal and Administration Studies at the University of Finance and Administration. Doctor Suchánek has an extensive publication record. Among other works, he is the co-author of a commentary on the Act on the Supreme Audit Office and commentaries on the Constitution of the Czech Republic. He will replace Josef Kubíček on the SAO Board, whose term has ended.
Josef Kott has been a Member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic for the ANO Movement since December 2013. He has been a Member of the Committee on Budgetary Control for six years and currently serves as its Vice-Chairman. He is also a Member of the Committee on Agriculture. After graduating from the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of South Bohemia, he joined ZZN Pelhřimov in 1995, where he worked his way up from a clerical position to become a Product Manager for Sales. In 2013, he was elected a Member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. Josef Kott is knowledgeable in the areas of subsidy policy and tender procedures. He holds certification to conduct ISO 9001 audits and others. He has experience in crisis management. Moreover, he is also knowledgeable in the area of agricultural commodity trade within the EU. On the SAO Board, he will replace Pavel Hrnčíř, whose term has ended.
