Representatives from the SAO met with delegates from SAI of Slovakia to discuss outcomes from a coordinated audit of excise duties

On January 16–20, 2017, a meeting of representatives of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) and the supreme audit institution of Slovak Republic (SAI SR) took place at the SAO’s headquarters in Prague, which aimed at the outcomes of a coordinated audit of excise duties. At the meeting, representatives of both supreme audit institutions compared and assessed individual points of the Joint Audit Report, evaluated the audit findings, and listed good practice recommendations related to the administration of excise duties.

The Joint Audit Report will include a description of both countries’ excise duties administration systems and a comparison of the achieved levels with the same selected criteria at the same costs as well as the finding, whether the administration processes related to excise duties had become more effective during the audited period.

The cooperation in the field of auditing excise duties was initiated in September 2013, when representatives from the SAI SR showed interests in cooperation with the SAO, which would aim at the field of taxes. The cooperation agreement was signed by top representatives of both supreme audit institutions in August 2015. The Joint Audit Report will be published in spring 2017.
