Representatives of the SAI of Slovakia and the Czech Republic met for the planned audit on climate and energy policy support

Press release – 6. 9. 2018

From 4-6 September 2018, SAO auditors met with their colleagues from the SAI of the Slovak Republic. The purpose of the meeting was to prepare a coordinated audit on climate and energy policy support, with an emphasis on maintaining the long-term sustainability of public revenues.

The European Union urges a number of measures to improve the environment. These measures are significantly reflected in public revenues. Representatives of both Supreme Audit Institutions discussed common audit issues and defined the core structure of the cooperative audit report which they will have published based on their findings. Participants clarified to each other the procedure and mutual cooperation in the cooperative audit.

The audit will be launched in both countries in October 2018 on the basis of an agreement on co-operation to carry out a cooperative audit in this area. The expected benefit of the audit will be the evaluation of individual measures to support climate and energy policy, including the impact on the state budget.
