PRESS RELEASE ON THE ELECTION OF A NEW MEMBER OF THE SAO BOARD – 28 January 2026

The new Member of the SAO Board will be the current Director of the Legal Department, Ms Tereza Koucká Hőfferová (age 52 years). Members of Parliament elected her in a secret ballot on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, with 144 of the 177 members present voting in favour of her election. Tereza Koucká Hőfferová will then take the oath of office before the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.

"I appreciate that the deputies approved my proposal. My colleague Koucká Hőfferová has been working at the SAO since 1999. She started as an auditor/lawyer and gradually worked her way up to the position of Director of the Legal Department. I am convinced that, thanks to her work experience to date, she will be able to excellently manage even the most demanding audits entrusted to her. I am very much looking forward to working with her," commented Miloslav Kala, President of the SAO, on Koucká Höfferová's election.

Tereza Koucká Höfferová began working at the SAO after graduating from Charles University’s Faculty of Law as an auditor/lawyer. Four years later, she became Head of the Defence Section in the Defence and Security Department. After taking a break to focus on her maternal and parental responsibilities, she returned to the office in 2011 as a Liaison Officer for European Union affairs in the International Relations Department. Two years later, she was appointed Director of the Legal Department, which she still heads today. She has completed a number of internships abroad, for example in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Belgium. On the SAO Board, she will replace Jan Stárek, whose term of office has ended.
